My Favourite Shots of 2013

Here’s my annual “best shots of the year” collection. Like previous years the selection is a cross section of the different types of photography I do, including events, weddings, street and travels, etc.

If you follow my photography, you’ve probably seen most of these images already throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone for your support and interest. My photography is constantly evolving, and taking new directions, and this year has been no different, most notably in wedding photography.

I look forward to what 2014 will produce!

The Moon, and Jupiter, in one shot. One of the things that makes this a remarkable photo for me, is the equipment I used to get it. I don't have any fancy telescopic lenses any more.

I never edit photos like this, i.e. lots of fake dirt and artefacts, but for some reason I did, and I'm glad I did. I really like this shot.

The first photo taken on my new camera. It's all about the lonely man on his phone.

This photo is terrible. It's out of focus, it has motion blur, and it's very very noisy. But you know what, it's one of my favourite photos I've ever taken. I don't care if everyone else hates it.

This is Anabel Englund performing alongside MK at the Takeoff festival. This photo got quite a lot of recognition. I took some other, arguably better photos of Anabel during her super-sexy performance, but there's just something about this shot.

My favourite crowd shot of the year (and I do take a lot of crowd shots!)

It's my dogs Obi and Ader! The angle and lighting really do it for me on this. I was laying on the floor.

It's a tree. I just love this photo, there's not much else to say about it.

Hey look, it's me! This is probably in here more for sentimental reasons than anything else. This is basically me, and some of my weekend family. (i.e. the people I work with in the nightclubs, every weekend)

This is Damon Cicero Scott, the vocalist on Storm Queen's Look Right Through. I managed to get several epic shots of him performing that night, but this is my favourite.

Taken only a few days ago on New Year's Eve, this is my good friend Holly, dancing in one of those "is she naked?" outfits.

This is Chatsworth house. I didn't do as much processing to the image as it would appear... this was one of those weird moments where the sky was moody but the sun was shining in from the horizon, creating an almost unrealistic lighting condition.

There's not much to say about this, I just love it and often have it as my desktop background. It's almost as if it's not real.

This image impressed a lot of people, most notably Disclosure who are in it. I've taken lots of "phones in the air" shots since, but this was the first.

Taken at Too Damn Glam's Cliffs Pavilion event, I had no idea I'd captured the heart hands until I reviewed the images some time later in the evening

I think this is my favourite shot of the year. There's not a lot to say about it, it was just a great case of right time, right place. Also I love the grain on this image.

This photo of Jimmy and Claire during their first dance as a married couple is just magical to me. I was so lucky to capture what seems to be true bliss as it happened.
